Great all around!

Lakeview Inns & Suites - Fort Nelson

10/10 for pet families! The room was spacious and comfortable, very clean with all amenities in the room (small kitchenette with silverware and plates) window with ledge for the cat and plenty of space to play with pup. The grass area outside was a little small but the larger strip across the street was better. Breakfast was simple and hot and we ate dinner at Boston Pizza half a block away. If we ever have to stay in Ft Nelson again, this place would be an absolute pleasure!

Not very pet friendly

Edgewater Hotel

We stayed our final road trip night at the Edgewater and I will say, it is a very nice boutique hotel. But there is a solid difference between pet friendly and just allows pets. Firstly, there isn’t any parking at the hotel, it’s all street metered. Secondly, there are no luggage carts or elevators and all the pet rooms are on the second/third floors but the stairs needed to go to those floors require you to walk to the back of the hotel through the restaurant galley and up a very narrow flight of stairs or two then through another door/hallway.

The room itself was nicely appointed and the bed was comfortable, however, there was no room for a dog to walk around and the space under the bed was not blocked off to prevent walking under the bed. Thirdly, and what most irritated me, was there was no green area, except walking down the block to take your dog to go to the bathroom. I will say, if you have a small dog that you can carry easily, these concerns are likely not something to bother you, but with a 60lb dog who has never used stairs, it was a stressful ordeal. Had my husband and I just stayed here for a weekend without the pooch, we would have thoroughly enjoyed the stay, but advertising it as pet friendly, isn’t completely true.

Bare bones room

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Shreveport-Airport LA

We booked because of the great reviews and decent price point. When we got there, we were assigned to a first floor room with laminate flooring, which is perfectly ideal for a dog and a cat. But the room was hot and humid, and smelled like mildew. The bathtub had footprints in it, like someone stepped in with their boots, and when I turned the water on to take a shower, it came out brown before it cleared to clean water. The toilet wasn’t secured and it would rattle if you sat on it. The linens in the bathroom were dirty, save two towels and the hotel itself was just poorly cared for. The only reason I can give it 3 bones is because the pet relief area was clean and there was a decent sized grass area for me to walk my dog. Even though we only stayed for one night, we will not be staying here again if we pass through town.
