Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Dominican Republic with your pet:
- Dominican Republic is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit to return to the U.S., travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record, a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on returning to the U.S. with your pet from a high risk country, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
- Obtain a health certificate issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian, which includes the name and address of the owner, and complete identification of the animal (name, breed, sex, and age), within 15 days of travel.
- Pets must have been vaccinated against rabies between a month and a year before the trip and have proof of vaccination.
- Animal Control at your chosen airport must release your pet and check necessary documents upon arrival for a fee of $10.
Quarantine Information
Pets being transported into Dominican Republic are not required to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
